Perhaps the biggest reason for Florida's resurgence in 2015 is its pass-rushing capabilities.

The Gators are second in the conference with 18 sacks, only one behind leader Texas A&M.

Why is this the case?

According to defensive end Alex McCalister, the defense has been given more freedom to make plays under new defensive coordinator Geoff Collins. The former Mississippi State defensive mind has allowed Florida to use its athleticism off the edge. It isn't an overly exotic scheme, but one in which the linemen can use their respective physical tools to get after opposing signal-callers.

Jonathan Bullard has been a major beneficiary, as he leads the group in sacks with 4.5. McCalister has 4.0 sacks of his own, and defensive tackle Joey Ivie has accrued 3.0.

The Gators hope the trend of notching sacks continue this weekend, as they face a true freshman quarterback in Missouri's Drew Lock.
