Valencia signs Canales from Real Madrid

Valencia signed midfielder Sergio Canales from Real Madrid on Wednesday, locking up the Spanish youth international on a five-year contract.

Canales, 21, joined Valencia on a loan deal last year which included a clause to add the player on a permanent switch. Real Madrid also maintained an option to re-sign Canales over the next two years.

Canales has played for Spain at every youth level from Under-16 to U-21, but has not appeared for the senior team.
