Utah DL Ofahengaue in critical after motorbike accident

Published January 08, 2015

Associated Press

Utah redshirt freshman Moana Ofahengaue (Mo-ah-nah Oh-fah-hang-ow-way) is in critical condition after an accident on a motorized bike.

University of Utah Hospital spokeswoman Kathy Wilets says Ofahengaue sustained a serious head injury in the accident on Sunday night.

Utah coach Kyle Whittingham says the team's thoughts and prayers are with Ofahengaue and his family. The team will support him in any way it can, the coach added.

The defensive lineman, a walk-on last season, is the son of former BYU football player Tevita Ofahengaue. His uncle is Utah defensive coordinator Kalani Sitake.

Details about the accident were not released.
