The United States and France advanced to the quarterfinals of the Basketball World Cup with wins on Saturday.

While the U.S. crushed Mexico 86-63, France had to come back and then hold on to eliminate Croatia 68-64.

Stephen Curry hit six 3-pointers and scored 20 points and Klay Thompson added 15 more as the U.S. rolled to yet another blowout at Palau Sant Jordi Pavilion.

On the other side of the bracket in Madrid, France rallied from an eight-point deficit in the first quarter to beat Croatia, which was paced by guard Bojan Bogdanovic's 27 points.

Nicolas Batum and Evan Fournier scored 13 points each for European champion France.

Later, host Spain played Senegal, and Slovenia faced the Dominican Republic.
