D.C. United midfielder Chris Pontius suffered a displaced fracture of his right tibia Saturday night and will be sidelined for an unknown period.

Pontius was injured in a collision with Chivas USA's David Junior Lopes in the second half, and X-rays later revealed the extent of the injury. The timetable for a return was not known, but Pontius should be out at least a few weeks.

The third-year pro had three assists in the 3-0 win over Chivas USA, all goals from Charlie Davies. He has started all 25 of United's MLS games this season.
