UConn's Todman, Edsall honored by Big East

Published November 20, 2014

Associated Press

Connecticut running back Jordan Todman has been named the Big East's offensive player of the year, while the leader of the Fiesta Bowl-bound Huskies is sharing coach-of-the-year honors.

Randy Edsall, who led the Huskies to an 8-4 record and their first BCS appearance, was named co-coach of the year with Louisville's Charlie Strong. The Cardinals (6-6) are headed to the Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl, the school's first in four seasons.

Todman averaged more than 143 yards per game, good for second in the nation. Others to be honored include: Louisville safety Hakeem Smith (rookie), Pittsburgh's Jabaal Sheard (defensive), and South Florida's Lindsey Lamar (special teams).

The league's eight coaches vote on the awards.
