UCF coach names Justin Holman starting quarterback for next week's game against Missouri

Published February 05, 2015

Associated Press

UCF coach George O'Leary says that sophomore Justin Holman has been named the starting quarterback for the Knights game next week at Missouri.

O'Leary announced the decision Friday.

Holman came on in relief of redshirt freshman Pete DiNovo in UCF's 26-24 loss to Penn State in Ireland last week. The second of Holman's two rushing touchdowns put the Knights ahead late, but Penn State was able to engineer a last-second, game-winning field goal.

The Knights have a bye this week.

Holman originally appeared to be the front runner to succeed Blake Bortles, but consistency issues cost him the job in a preseason battle with DiNovo.
