U.S. beats China in women's volleyball

The United States beat China in straight sets Wednesday, improving their record to 3-0 in the women's volleyball tournament at the London Games.

The United States posted a 26-24, 25-16, 31-29 victory over the Chinese and has earned a trip to the quarterfinals. Destinee Hooker led the Americans with 22 points.

The U.S. still has two games left in Group B play against Serbia and Turkey.

Turkey defeated Serbia on Wednesday, while South Korea earned a victory over Brazil. Both wins were in straight sets.

In Group A action, Russia and Italy both improved to 3-0 with straight-set wins over Algeria and Great Britain, respectively. Japan pushed its record to 2-1 with a 25-20, 25-19, 25-23 win over the Dominican Republic.
