The Minnesota Twins have reportedly agreed to year deal with right-handed reliever Matt Capps. The pact is also believed to include an option for a second season and is pending a physical..

Capps thrived for the Twins in 2010 after coming over from the Washington Nationals, as he saved 16 games and pitched to a 2.00 ERA in 27 games. However, he struggled with forearm and wrist problems last season and was just 4-7 with 15 saves and a 4.25 ERA in 69 games.

After striking out 59 batters in 73 combined innings for the Nationals and Twins, Capps managed just a 4.9 strikeout/nine inning ratio last season, fanning 34 batters in 69 2/3 innings.

With Joe Nathan signing in Texas, Capps is believed to once again handle closing duties for the Twins. He had been the team's closer a year ago, but lost the job in mid-July due to his struggles.

For his career Capps is 28-29 with 124 saves and a 3.51 ERA in 414 games for the Pirates, Nats and Twins.
