CLEVELAND (AP) The Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Indians had their wild-card chase sidetracked by rain Tuesday night, leading to a postponement and forcing the clubs to play a doubleheader Wednesday.

The game never got started, and after a 1-hour, 10-minute delay, the umpires decided to call it a night. Minnesota and Cleveland will begin Wednesday's first game at 4:10 p.m., with the second game starting 30 minutes after completion of the opener.

Carlos Carrasco will start Game 1 for Cleveland, and rookie Cody Anderson will pitch the second game. The Twins' pitching plans were not immediately known.

Minnesota entered Tuesday trailing Houston by 1 1-2 games for the second wild-card spot. The Indians are five games back with seven left.
