Tsonga ousted in London

Last year's runner-up Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was a third-round upset victim Thursday at the $785,000 Aegon Championships, a grass-court Wimbledon tune-up.

Croat Ivan Dodig was unable to break the second-seeded Tsonga and struck six fewer aces (11-5) than his French counterpart, but still knocked out the former Australian Open runner-up in 7-6 (7-3), 3-6, 7-6 (7-5) fashion at The Queen's Club.

Tsonga injured a finger on Thursday and could be questionable for Wimbledon in two weeks.

"I think it's serious," Tsonga said. "I just fell down. That's it. I didn't do, you know, an exam for the moment, but it sounds very bad. I felt like I broke something or I stretched, you know, a lot of ligaments, I would say."

Tsonga lost to Britain's Andy Murray in last year's finale here. The two-time champion Murray exited the draw Wednesday at the hands of 2007 Queen's Club runner-up Nicolas Mahut.

More Day-4 upsets came when ninth-seeded South African Kevin Anderson topped fifth-seeded Spanish lefthander Feliciano Lopez 7-6 (12-10), 7-6 (9-7) and former Queen's Club champ San Querrey of the United States bested eighth- seeded Frenchman Julien Benneteau 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. The 2010 titlist Querrey will encounter Dodig in Friday's quarterfinals.

Sixth-seeded Croat Marin Cilic avoided the upset bug by beating Czech Lukas Rosol 7-6 (7-3), 6-2.

In some other third-round action, talented Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov downed the aforementioned French Mahut 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 and capable Belgian grass- courter Xavier Malisse dismissed Italian Simone Bolelli 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.

Dimitrov will face Anderson on Friday.

Taiwan's Yen-Hsun Lu was leading third-seeded Serbian star Janko Tipsarevic 6-3, 1-2 when played was called because of rain. And a match between 10th- seeded Argentine David Nalbandian and France's Edouard Roger-Vasselin was postponed until Friday due to inclement weather.
