New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The Cleveland Browns were active during the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday night, making three trades.

Their last bit of business? Dealing up to pick Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel.

The Browns traded a reported third-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles to move up four places and selected Manziel at No. 22.

It ended a long wait for Manziel at Radio City Music Hall, where TV cameras cut to him often as the first round unfolded.

The first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy, Manziel passed for over 4,000 yards as a sophomore, throwing for 37 touchdowns and running for nine. He accounted for 93 total touchdowns in 26 games for the Aggies.

Earlier, the Browns took Oklahoma State cornerback Justin Gilbert with the No. 8 pick after making a pair of trades.

The Browns acquired a first- and fourth-round pick in the 2015 draft from the Buffalo Bills for this year's No. 4 pick, dropping down to No. 9.

Then, they moved up one place after dealing the No. 145 overall pick this year to the Minnesota Vikings.

Gilbert, who is 6-foot and 202 pounds, had 12 interceptions in four years at Oklahoma State, including seven this past season.
