London, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Tottenham announced Tuesday that the club has parted ways with manager Tim Sherwood.
Sherwood assumed control of Tottenham's managerial duties in December following the departure of Andre Villas-Boas, but the 45-year-old's 18-month deal has been cut short.
"We appointed Tim mid-season as someone who knew both the players and the club," said chairman Daniel Levy in a statement on the club's official website. "We agreed an 18-month contract with a break clause at the end of the season and we have now exercised that option."
Sherwood lifted Tottenham to a sixth-place finish in the Premier League. The club has yet to identify his replacement.
