Top-seeded Virginia sticking with game plan

Virginia's top-seeded baseball team is sticking with a proven formula heading into the NCAA tournament: Win the out, win the at-bat and win the inning.

The Cavaliers (49-9) open against Navy (33-23-1) on Friday afternoon in the double-elimination format. East Carolina (39-19) and St. John's (35-20) meet in the other game.

Cavaliers starting pitcher Tyler Wilson says he and his teammates are taking nothing for granted. A year ago, Virginia advanced through the regional round and hosted super regional games, but had to watch as Oklahoma won and then celebrated on Davenport Field.

Wilson says being the top seed overall is nice, but means nothing once the games start.

The Cavaliers are hosting in the opening round for the fifth time in eight years.
