To Texas and back: No. 5 West Virginia handed tough early road schedule in Big 12

Published November 20, 2014

Associated Press

West Virginia knew that long road trips would be a part of life in the Big 12.

Maybe not this close together.

The conference schedule makers handed the Mountaineers a pair of excursions to Texas a week apart.

Trip second trip happens Saturday when No. 5 West Virginia (5-0, 2-0 Big 12) plays at Texas Tech (4-1, 1-1).

West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen says his team stopped talking about a 48-45 win at No. 15 Texas as soon as it returned to Morgantown early Sunday.

Now the Mountaineers have to travel 1,500 miles to Lubbock, Texas, and Holgorsen insists the twin trips aren't a bother.

He also says there's no chance West Virginia will be looking ahead to an Oct. 20 showdown back home against No. 6 Kansas State.
