Timely Buck homer gives Indians win over Reds

CLEVELAND (Reuters) - Travis Buck hit his first home run in 13 months to give the Cleveland Indians a 2-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds in front of a delighted sold out crowd in Ohio on Saturday.

Asdrubal Cabrera led off the seventh inning with a single and scored on Buck's two out blast off Reds starter Homer Bailey, who had allowed just one hit prior to the seventh inning.

"He (Bailey) had gotten me out the first two at-bats with fastballs away," Buck told reporters.

"This time, he tried to brush me off a bit, but the pitch leaked back over enough. I was ready to do something with it. Even though I hit the ball hard, if it's a little more in the air, it's probably caught on the warning track."

Indians starter Josh Tomlin allowed just one run which came at the top of the seventh as Brandon Phillips reached base after being hit by a pitch and came in to score on a ground out by Scott Rolen.

"They're pitching well against us and getting whatever hits they need," Reds manager Dusty Baker said of the Indians. "Today they needed a two-run homer, and that's what they got. They're playing good with a lot of confidence."

Tomlin improved to 6-1 for the league leading Indians, allowing one run on three hits while striking out three batters in seven innings. Bailey allowed the two runs on four hits while striking out four also in seven innings.

Chris Perez picked up the save, his twelfth of the year, with a scoreless ninth inning.
