Tiger Woods says Dan Jenkins column a shot 'below the belt'

Published January 08, 2015

Associated Press

Tiger Woods is criticizing Hall of Fame writer Dan Jenkins for a parody in which Jenkins fakes an interview with him.

The headline of the Golf Digest column is "My (Fake) Interview with Tiger," with an asterisk to add, "Or how it plays out in my mind." Jenkins covers a range of subjects from Woods' reputation as a bad tipper to his divorce.

Woods responded on Derek Jeter's website. He says the article was below the belt and asks, "Journalistically and ethically, can you sink any lower?"

Woods says his agents asked the magazine for an explanation for what he considers a cheap shot. He says Golf Digest responded that it was Jenkins' sense of humor.

Jenkins was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2011.
