Thompson scores 22 points to lift Eastern Michigan to 60-52 win over Eastern Illinois

Derek Thompson scored 22 points to help lead Eastern Michigan to a win against Eastern Illinois 60-52 on Friday night in EMU's "Ice Man" Classic.

Thompson was 5 of 12 from 3-point range. Daylen Harrison scored 18 points and was 11 of 11 at the free throw line. Da'Shonte Riley had seven rebounds for the Eagles (2-1).

Sherman Blanford had 14 points and nine rebounds for Eastern Illinois. Josh Piper added 13 points. Austin Akers had seven assists for the Panthers (0-3).

Eastern Illinois led 26-23 at halftime in a game with 12 lead changes and nine ties.

Eastern Michigan shot 28 percent from the field in the first half, but improved to 50 percent in the second half.
