The Houston Texans announced on Saturday that quarterback Case Keenum cleared waivers and has been signed to the practice squad.

Keenum, an undrafted free agent out of the University of Houston, threw for more than 19,000 yards during his five-year stint with the Cougars. He was placed on waivers Friday as the Texans pared down their roster to the 53-man limit.

Joining him on the practice roster are running back Jonathan Grimes, defensive end David Hunter, linebacker Delano Johnson, wideout Jeff Maehl, safety Eddie Pleasant and tight end Phillip Supernaw.

Houston also released guard Shelley Smith.
