Suarez undergoes knee surgery

Montevideo, Uruguay (SportsNetwork.com) - The Uruguayan Football Association confirmed Thursday that striker Luis Suarez has undergone surgery to repair a damaged meniscus in his left knee.

Suarez complained of knee pain during a training session with the Uruguayan national team on Wednesday, and an immediate scan revealed the extent of the injury.

The 27-year-old underwent surgery but is still expected to take part in the World Cup, according to the Uruguayan FA.
