Stoudemire says will not accept option year on contract

PHOENIX (Reuters) - Phoenix Suns forward Amare Stoudemire has ruled out agreeing to a $17.7 million option to finish his current contract with the NBA team next season.

"There's no chance of that at all," he told reporters at his foundation's basketball camp.

Stoudemire, 27, said he would either sign a new contract with the Suns or become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

The player wants a five-year deal added to his current contract that would pay him about $134 million over the next six seasons, the Arizona Republic reported on its website (www.azcentral.com).

"It's only right to look for a maximum contract," said Stoudemire, who said he had given the Suns 100 per cent effort throughout his career.
