Steelers GM Kevin Colbert says roster needs to change after "unacceptable" 8-8 finish

Published January 13, 2015

Associated Press

Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert says the gap between his club and the four remaining playoff teams is significant and needs to be addressed.

Colbert called Pittsburgh's uneven 8-8 season "unacceptable" and said there could be significant player turnover in the coming months. Colbert said the team will not "box itself in" when it comes to personnel moves and he doesn't see any position that "isn't open."

Colbert added former running back Chris Rainey lost the trust of the organization following his arrest on a misdemeanor battery charge last week and that's why he was cut. The general manager says the team makes character a major issue when drafting players and needs to take responsibility when things don't work out.
