Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Tampa Bay Lightning sniper Steven Stamkos was removed from Monday's game at Boston on a stretcher with 7:11 remaining in the second period.

Stamkos crashed into the right post in the Tampa Bay zone after making contact with Boston defenseman Dougie Hamilton on the backcheck. Stamkos slid feet- first following the minimal contact, with his lower right leg slamming into the post.

Stamkos initially tried to get up, but fell back down to the ice before medical personnel tended to him.

The 23-year-old forward entered play tied for the NHL lead in goals (14) and points (23).
