Stafford leads Dallas Baptist past TCU 3-2

Published November 20, 2014

Associated Press

Landon Anderson's single to center scored Joel Hutter with the go-ahead run in the sixth inning of Dallas Baptist's 3-2 victory over TCU on Saturday in the Fort Worth Regional.

Jared Stafford allowed two runs and three hits in 8 1-3 innings for Dallas Baptist (41-17). Chris Haney earned the save by retiring two batters in the ninth with the tying run on third.

TCU (43-18) will play Oral Roberts Sunday in an elimination game.

The Patriots scored their first run on a wild pitch by TCU starter Matt Purke, and Jason Krizan's run-scoring double in the third gave Dallas Baptist a 2-0 lead.

Purke, who returned to the mound a couple of weeks while allowing shoulder soreness to subside, was limited to a pitch count of 80-90 pitches. He left after five innings and 83 pitches.

Taylor Featherston and Brett Johnson had RBIs for the Horned Frogs.
