Sadio Mane and Graziano Pelle scored as Southampton fought back from 2-0 down to beat Liverpool 3-2 in the Premier League at St Mary's.

Phillipe Coutinho set Liverpool on their way at St Mary's with a fine opener in the 17th minute, the Brazilian cutting inside from the left wing and bending a low shot into the far corner past Fraser Forster.

And it was 2-0 just four minutes later when Daniel Sturridge received Divock Origi's pass on the break and beat Ryan Bertrand before burying an effort into the bottom far corner.

Joe Allen had a goal disallowed for offside as the Reds threatened to run riot before the break, but Southampton were handed the chance to reduce the deficit at the start of the second half when Pelle was awarded a penalty having been pulled down by Martin Skrtel.

Mane saw his spot-kick saved by Simon Mignolet, but Saints upped the pressure and pulled one back in the 64th minute when Mane did beat Mignolet with a powerful shot after beating Mamadou Sakho for pace.

Pelle equalized with a 20-yard effort seven minutes from time before Mane completed an incredible comeback in the 86th minute with a left-footed effort low into the corner from inside the area.
