South Carolina remains No. 1 in women's basketball

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - South Carolina is still the top-ranked team in women's basketball, earning the No. 1 spot in the Associated Press poll for the fourth straight week.

The Gamecocks, coming off a 111-49 rout of Savannah State in their lone game last week, received 25 first-place votes and a total of 865 points from a nationwide media panel.

There were no changes among the first 14 teams as UConn, Texas, Texas A&M and Notre Dame followed South Carolina. Connecticut picked up six first-place votes and Texas earned four No. 1 votes.

North Carolina, Stanford, Kentucky, Baylor and Louisville round out the top 10.

The second 10 consists of Tennessee, Nebraska, Duke, Maryland, Georgia, Oregon State, Rutgers, Michigan State, Syracuse and Oklahoma State. Georgia and Oregon State swapped places, with the Lady Bulldogs moving up to No. 15. Syracuse and Oklahoma State are tied for 19th.

The last five teams ranked are Mississippi State, West Virginia, Iowa, California and DePaul. California dropped six spots after a loss to Long Beach State.
