Smith helps Louisville snap skid in win over St. John's

Russ Smith scored 17 points and No. 11 game losing streak with a 73-58 win over St. John's on Tuesday night.

Kyle Kuric added 15 points for Louisville (13-2, 1-1 Big East) and Gorgui Dieng had 12.

The Cardinals lost two straight regular season games for the first time in almost two years, falling to Georgetown and Kentucky last week and tumbling seven places from No. 4 in the AP poll.

The setbacks came on the heels of a 12-0 start, their best since 1974-75, but St. John's provided the perfect opportunity for a bounce-back win, shooting under 15 percent in the first half as Louisville built a 29-18 lead.

D'Angelo Harrison scored 24 points to lead the Red Storm (7-7, 1-2) and Moe Harkless had 12.
