David Skinns fired a 5-under 65 on Saturday and jumped ahead by two strokes at the season-opening Times Colonist Island Savings Open.

Skinns, who played on the Web.com Tour in 2012, sits at 10-under-par 200 through 54 holes, two shots clear of overnight leader Matt Marshall, who shot 69, and Tyler Aldridge (67).

Stephen Gangluff shot 66 and moved into fourth place at 7-under. Nick Taylor (67) and Brock Mackenzie (66) follow at 6-under and 5-under, respectively.

Canadians Darren Griff (68), Riley Wheeldon (69) and Devin Carrey (70) are part of a large group tied for seventh place at 4-under.

Skinns began the day two strokes off Marshall's pace and went bogey-free to jump in front.

The Englishman notched a birdie at the third, then turned the trick in succession from the sixth to highlight an outward 32 and catch Marshall at 8- under through nine holes.

Skinns added another gain at the 12th to grab sole possession of the lead at 9-under, then tallied another birdie on the 16th before parring out to end the day with a 2-stroke advantage.

NOTES: Marshall tied for 13th at this event in 2012 ... Last year's winner Andrew Roque did not make Friday's cut. He posted two straight 2-over 72s, which left him three strokes outside the cut line at plus-4 ... The cut fell at 1-over-par 141 with 56 players moving on to the weekend.
