Simon ousted in Gstaad

Gstaad, Switzerland (SportsNetwork.com) - Former top-10 star Gilles Simon came up a first-round loser Tuesday at the Swiss Open tennis event.
Spaniard Pablo Andujar was leading the sixth-seeded one-time world No. 6 Simon 6-2, 3-2 when the Frenchman retired due to an illness on the red clay at Roy Emerson Arena.
Meanwhile, seventh-seeded Dutchman Robin Haase avoided an upset by outlasting Kazakhstan's Aleksandr Nedovyesov, 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, on Day 2. Haase was last year's Gstaad runner-up to this week's top seed, Russian Mikhail Youzhny.
Also, Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci, the 2009 and 2012 Gstaad champion, topped Austrian qualifier Gerald Melzer 6-3, 6-4; German Jan-Lennard Struff bested Austrian Andreas Haider-Maurer 6-2, 1-0, retired; France's Kenny De Schepper erased Italian Filippo Volandri 6-3, 7-6 (7-3); Slovenian Blaz Rola dismissed Brazilian qualifier Fabiano De Paula 6-4, 6-4; and Swiss wild card Yann Marti fought back to beat Spaniard Daniel Gimeno-Traver 5-7, 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (7-5). De Schepper will face Youzhny in the round of 16, while Marti will meet second-seeded 2011 Gstaad titlist Marcel Granollers of Spain.
The 2014 Swiss Open champ will earn $105,000.
