Nate Sikma's 3-pointer at the buzzer lifted Hartford to a 61-58 victory over Vermont on Sunday in the teams' final game before the America East Conference tournament.
The Hawks (17-12, 10-6) earned the third seed and will face Maryland-Baltimore County in the quarterfinals Saturday. The Catamounts (19-10, 11-5) will face New Hampshire.
The shot by Sikma, who finished with 15 points, was his fourth 3-pointer on seven attempts. Hartford used 3-point shots to good advantage, making 12 of 25 to Vermont's 3 of 8.
The Hawks led nearly the entire second half before Vermont gained a 58-58 tie on Brian Voelkel's jumper with 33 seconds left.
Yolonzo Moore II scored 16 points and had six assists for Hartford, which tied its program record for victories in a season. The Hawks also ended a 15-game losing streak against Vermont.
Trey Blue scored 12 points and Luke Apfeld 10 for the Catamounts.
