San Jose, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Jose Sharks placed forward Joe Thornton on injured reserve Sunday.

Thornton's streak of 319 consecutive games played ended Saturday against the Blues due to an upper-body injury suffered in Wednesday's win over the Ducks.

The 35-year-old missed a game for the first time since Nov. 11, 2010. The streak was the third-longest in franchise history.

Thornton has recorded nine goals and 24 assists and is tied for the team's scoring lead with Joe Pavelski.

San Jose also assigned forward Michael Haley to Worcester (AHL).
