Serena Williams wins elusive Cincinnati title on sixth try, beats Ana Ivanovic 6-4, 6-1

Serena Williams won her elusive Cincinnati title on her sixth try, beating Ana Ivanovic 6-4, 6-1 on Sunday in the Western & Southern Open.

Williams had never reached the finals in Cincinnati until last year, when she fell apart late in the match and lost to Victoria Azarenka in a third-set tiebreaker.

No wobbles Sunday. After getting broken in the first game, she recovered and closed it out in 62 minutes.

Williams has been playing well on hard courts. She won at Stanford in her first tournament since Wimbledon. A stiff back limited her in the semifinals in Cincinnati, but it didn't slow her Sunday.

Ivanovic was coming off a nearly 3-hour win over Maria Sharapova on Saturday night.
