Serena gets top seed at Wimbledon

Wimbledon, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Five-time champion Serena Williams has been installed as the top seed at Wimbledon, which will get underway Monday at the All England Club.

The seedings were in line with the WTA rankings, as the 17-time Grand Slam singles titlist Williams is followed in the top five by Australian Open champion Li Na, French Open runner-up Simona Halep, 2012 Wimbledon runner-up Agnieszka Radwanska, and French Open champ and former Wimbledon winner Maria Sharapova, who titled here as a 17-year-old 10 years ago.

Seeds six-through-10 will be 2011 Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova, former world No. 1 Jelena Jankovic, former top-ranked star Victoria Azarenka, Angelique Kerber, and Aussie Open runner-up Dominika Cibulkova.

The draw will be announced on Friday.
