Seppi, Youzhny, Troicki move on in Zagreb

Zagreb, Croatia (SportsNetwork.com) - Fifth seed Andreas Seppi, former champion Mikhail Youzhny and seventh-seeded Viktor Troicki were among Tuesday's opening-round winners at the Zagreb Indoors tennis event.

Seppi, who stunned the great Roger Federer at the Australian Open two weeks ago, edged out Dutchman Robin Haase 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 on Day 2 in Zagreb.

The sixth-seeded Russian veteran Youzhny held off Slovenian Blaz Kavcic 6-3, 1-6, 6-4, while the recent Sydney titlist Troicki of Serbia came back to sneak past Ukrainian qualifier Illya Marchenko 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-3) at Dom Sportova. Youzhny captured this Zagreb tournament in 2012.

Meanwhile, 2007 Zagreb champ Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus fought back to get past Croatian wild card Toni Androic 6-7 (3-7), 6-2, 6-3. Baghdatis' second- round opponent will be 6-foot-10 Croatian top seed Ivo Karlovic on Wednesday.

Also on Tuesday, Bosnia's Damir Dzumhur grounded German qualifier Michael Berrer 6-2, 0-6, 7-5 and Japan's Go Soeda got past German qualifier Matthias Bachinger 7-6 (7-4), 7-5. Berrer was the back-to-back runner-up at this event in 2010 and 2011.

The 2015 Zagreb champion will collect $90,000.
