Seahawks' Lynch rests, as scheduled

East Rutherford, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - The Seattle Seahawks worked fast during their first practice of Super Bowl week while running back Marshawn Lynch had a scheduled day of rest.

Lynch missed Wednesday's practice on the artificial turf inside the New York Giants' practice facility, where the team opened five doors in an attempt to simulate the cold temperatures forecasted for Sunday's game against Denver.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said there wasn't anything unusual about Lynch's absence.

The star running back was the only player out of 61 on the regular roster and practice squad who sat out the unpadded practice.

Wide receivers Doug Baldwin (hip) and Percy Harvin (concussion) and defensive tackle Brandon Mebane (ankle) were all a go.

"Everybody's fine," Carroll said. "This is the day we rest Marshawn. Wednesday is always a rest day for him. We've been doing that for years, and it's always worked out great. We're in great shape. We're just as fortunate as can be to be in this kind of shape this late in the year."

The Seahawks will run another 90-minute practice on Thursday afternoon inside the facility.

Carroll said the team will practice outside "only if we need to." He said he was happy with the conditions they were able to simulate inside on Wednesday.
