Scott Harvey, Brad Nurski advance to finals of US Mid-Amateur

Scott Harvey and Brad Nurski have reached the championship match of the U.S. Mid-Amateur.

The winner earns an automatic spot in the Masters next year.

Harvey, a 36-year-old from Greensboro, North Carolina, won his quarterfinal match, 7 and 6, over Denver Haddix of Lexington, Kentucky. Harvey had a tougher time in the semifinal. He won five straight holes for a 3-and-2 win over 2005 Mid-Am champion Kevin Marsh.

Nurski had a more stressful day at Saucon Valley's Old Course. The 35-year-old from St. Joseph, Missouri, won on the 18th hole in the quarterfinals over Todd White of Spartanburg, South Carolina. In the semifinals, Nurski had to go 19 holes to beat Tom Werkmeister of Kentwood, Michigan.

This will be the first USGA championship match for Harvey and Nurski.
