Savannah State set to introduce new coach

Published March 28, 2016

(STATS) - Savannah State has scheduled a news conference for Monday afternoon to announce its new coach.

The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference school had previously narrowed a list of more than 90 applicants to three finalists: former Morehead and Alabama A&M coach Anthony Jones; Wabash College coach Erik Raeburn; and long-time college assistant Kevin Grisby, who spent last season at Norfolk State.

The three coaches interviewed on campus last week.

Savannah State is replacing Earnest Wilson III, who resigned in February to become the coach at Elizabeth City State. He was 2-32 over three seasons at SSU, which has won more than two games in a season only once since the school moved to the FCS level in 2000.
