Samford set for Hatcher's first season

Birmingham, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Samford first-year coach Chris Hatcher and his Bulldogs will play six home games and visit Louisville as part of an 11- game schedule announced on Monday.

Hatcher will open his tenure with three home games against Central Arkansas (Sept. 3), Florida A&M (Sept. 12) and defending Southern Conference champion Chattanooga (Sept. 19) before Samford visits Louisville on Sept. 26.

The Bulldogs also will play at home against SoCon rivals The Citadel (Oct. 17) and Furman (Oct. 31) and host Clark-Atlanta (Nov. 7) in non-conference action.

"The Southern Conference is always challenging and we will be tested early by playing the defending champion (Chattanooga) in Week 3," said Hatcher, who inherited a 7-4 team from a year ago. "We have our work cut out for us, but I can't wait to get started."
