Sadler's team penalized for rules infractions at Iowa

NASCAR on Tuesday penalized Elliott Sadler's No. 2 team in the Nationwide Series for rule violations that occurred the past weekend at Iowa Speedway.

Sadler's car failed post-race inspection when NASCAR officials discovered it did not meet the minimum rear car heights. Sadler was docked six points in the driver championship standings, while his crew chief, Luke Lambert, received a $10,000 fine. DeLana Harvick was also penalized with a six-point loss in the owner standings. Richard Childress Racing owns the team, but Harvick is listed as the car owner.

Sadler remains second in the rankings but is now 34 points behind leader and defending series champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who claimed his third consecutive win at Iowa.

The series will race on Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
