NEW YORK (Reuters) - Buffalo Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta had surgery on his thumb and will miss at least two weeks, the NHL team said on Monday.

Kaleta, who had the surgery on Monday, suffered the injury during Buffalo's 4-2 loss to Ottawa on Friday and missed the team's 7-1 rout of Tampa Bay on Saturday.

In 54 games this season, Kaleta has 10 goals and 5 assists for the Northeast Division-leading Buffalo Sabres.

Buffalo's regular season ends April 11 and will move on to the post-season for the first time since 2007.
