Roma revealed Wednesday that midfielder Erik Lamela will be sidelined for three weeks with an ankle injury.

A series of exams confirmed that Lamela has damaged an ankle ligament, leaving the Argentina youngster out of action for approximately one month.

"Erik Lamela has today undergone medical examinations which have revealed a ligament injury to his right ankle," the club said in a statement. "The prognosis is three weeks (of recovery)."

Lamela, 20, has scored eight goals in 12 appearances with Roma this season.
