Seven-time Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens will be arraigned Monday on federal charges of perjury, making false statements and obstruction of Congress.

Clemens is expected to appear Monday before federal judge Reggie Walton in Washington, D.C., post bail and return home to Texas shortly thereafter.

The former ace pitcher faces maximum penalties of 30 years in prison and a $1.5 million fine if he is convicted on all charges.

Clemens was indicted last week for lying to Congress in Feb. 2008 by denying that he ever used steroids.

His former trainer Brian McNamee told Congress that he gave Clemens steroids, while Clemens' former teammate, Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte, backed up McNamee's claims about Clemens' use of human growth hormone.

Clemens, 48, has maintained he never used any performance-enhancing drugs in his legendary career.

“Roger is looking forward to his day in court,” Clemens' attorney Rusty Hardin said last week.

“He’s happy this has finally happened. We have known for some time this was going to happen. Now that they are ready to move forward, we are too, and we’ll let everything get taken care of in the courts."

Clemens last pitched for the Yankees in 2007, finishing his career with 354 wins, ninth on the all-time list; 4,672 strikeouts, third on the all-time list; and a record seven Cy Young Awards for pitcher of the year.
