Rick Adelman's long, frustrating season in Minnesota could be his last as an NBA coach

Published January 08, 2015

Associated Press

The Minnesota Timberwolves end their season Wednesday night, and that could be the end of a coaching career that has spanned almost a quarter century.

Rick Adelman's contract has a mutual option for next season. If either side opts out in the next two weeks as expected, the Timberwolves will be looking for a new coach.

Adelman will be 68 in June and his wife has been treated for a seizure disorder the last two seasons.

Adelman has more than 1,000 victories. If this is the end, it was a frustrating one. The Timberwolves entered the season with playoff expectations but finished 10th in the West.

Adelman says he's never experienced anything like this season.
