Report: Texans unlikely to pursue Ray Rice

The Houston Texans are in need of a running back after star Arian Foster foster suffered a groin injury Monday that's expected to require surgery.

But according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, don't expect the Texans to sign former Baltimore Ravens back Ray Rice to help make up for Foster's absence.

Wilson said Houston owner Bob McNair isn't likely to approve any pursuit of Rice by his team. The former Pro Bowl running back missed all of 2014 after a domestic-violence incident with his wife in an Atlantic City, N.J. casino elevator was caught on camera last year.

Rice was reinstated by the NFL in late November after an appeal of his indefinite suspension, but has yet to be invited to try out for any NFL teams as he attempts to make a comeback.

"I don't want my career to be defined by this one moment," Rice said in February, via the Baltimore Sun. "I've been smart with money and the NFL is a great-paying game, but I really want to get back out there for my pride and to be able to leave the game with dignity. I don't ever want to feel exiled out because I wasn't that guy. I know I'm not ready to call it quits yet."
