Report: Spurs bringing back former Magic coach Jacque Vaughn

His stint with the Orlando Magic over two seasons and part of a third ended without much progress. But former head coach Jacque Vaughn has found a comfortable landing spot, according to a report from Yahoo Sports/FOX Sports 1 NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

Before he joined the Magic, Vaughn was an assistant coach with the San Antonio Spurs. And Wojnarowski reports that the Spurs are bringing Vaughn back on the player-personnel side of the front office, filling the role of the departed Trajan Langdon, who reportedly took a job with the Cleveland Cavaliers this offseason:

"Vaughn could eventually find his way back to the bench as an assistant coach, but there are no openings for him now. The Spurs hired James Borrego as an assistant this summer. Borrego had been promoted in Orlando to interim head coach in the wake of Vaughn's firing. Vaughn and Borrego had previously worked together with the Spurs."

The Magic went 58-158 under Vaughn before he gave way to Borrego, who finished the 2014-15 season with a 10-20 record as interim coach.

Before serving as a coach for the Spurs, Vaughn finished his NBA playing career with three seasons in San Antonio. He averaged 9.3 points and 5.7 assists per game for the Spurs and was on the title-winning team in 2006-07.
