Report: Pats' Wilfork has torn Achilles' tendon

New England Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork reportedly suffered a torn right Achilles' tendon during Sunday night's game against Atlanta.

Wilfork limped off the field in the first quarter of New England's 30-23 victory and was later seen with his foot in a walking boot.

The Boston Globe, citing a league source, reported the severity of the injury Monday morning and said Wilfork would likely miss the remainder of the season.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick didn't offer much of an update on Wilfork's status during a Monday morning teleconference.

"I don't really have a lot of new information on (Wilfork's injury)," said Belichick. "We'll have to see how things turn out here. He's an outstanding player. He gives us great leadership, is a strong contributor on and off the field. We'll have to see how things come together for him.

"Obviously, if he's not there, everyone will have to pull a little more weight on their end."

Wilfork has spent his entire 10-year career with the Patriots, who selected the Miami-Florida product in the first round of the 2004 draft. He has nine tackles in four games this season.
