Report: NFL discussing changes to celebration penalties

The NFL Combine isn't just a time for players to showcase their skills and meet with teams in a professional setting. It will also play host to the NFL competition committee's annual meetings, which will be used to discuss a number of potential changes.

One of which will be the way officials handle excessive celebration penalties -- a huge issue in the NFL last season. According to USA Today, the competition committee has discussed potential changes and will continue to mull the rules this week in Indy.

The committee will sit down with current and former players to talk about ways they can improve the way celebration penalties are enforced, considering how often players were flagged for dances or pretending to shoot a bow and arrow.

According to the report, there's a "strong sense" changes will be coming, notably to clarify which acts are deemed excessive and warrant penalties.

This could be a huge step in the right direction for the NFL, which has come under plenty of criticism for the way officials penalize players.
