Reigning champs Errani, Vinci reach French doubles final

The reigning champions and top-seeded tandem of Italians Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci secured a berth in Sunday's women's doubles final at the French Open.

Errani-Vinci held off a third-seeded pairing of Russian Nadia Petrova and Slovenian two-time French Open doubles runner-up Katarina Srebotnik 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 in Friday's semifinals on Court Lenglen.

Errani and Vinci will meet fourth-seeded Russians Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina in the final, as Makarova and Vesnina upended a second-seeded Czech duo of Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka 6-4, 7-5 at Stade Roland Garros. Hlavackova and Hradecka were the French Open champs two years ago.

Last year's women's singles French Open runner-up, Errani, and Vinci beat Russians Maria Kirilenko and Petrova in last year's Roland Garros finale.

Errani and Vinci are also the reigning Australian and U.S. Open champs.

Vesnina will play in her fourth Grand Slam doubles final (0-3). She was a French Open doubles runner-up in 2009 and 2011.

Sunday's winning team will split $470,000.
