Ashburn, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson twisted his ankle in practice Wednesday and could miss Thursday's preseason opener against the New England Patriots.

The teams have been holding joint practices.

"DeSean got cleated today in a walkthrough and twisted his ankle just a hair," said Redskins coach Jay Gruden. "We'll see how he does at rehab or treatment and all that. We'll find out."

Gruden said "there's a possibility" Jackson will miss Thursday's game. He said wide receiver Pierre Garcon would definitely be out after tweaking a hamstring on Tuesday.

The Redskins signed Jackson in April to a reported three-year, $24 million deal. The dynamic playmaker spent his first six NFL seasons with NFC East rival Philadelphia.
