Cincinnati, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - The Cincinnati Reds activated relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman from the 15-day disabled list Saturday and optioned pitcher Curtis Partch to Triple-A Louisville.

Chapman hasn't pitched in the majors this season after being hit in the face with a line drive off the bat of Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez during spring training.

The hard-throwing left-hander suffered a fracture above his left eye, which required surgery and left him sidelined for Cincinnati's first 34 games of the season.

Chapman made two rehab appearances at Single-A Dayton and spun two scoreless innings, but was tagged for eight runs on seven hits in just one inning of work over two rehab appearances at Triple-A Louisville.

The 26-year-old native of Cuba collected 38 saves and went 4-5 with a 2.54 earned run average in 68 appearances in 2013.

Partch, 27, appeared in three games for the Reds this season and did not allow a run while striking out three over 4 1/3 innings.
